Kamal Hassan- A Phenomenon In Indian Cinema

53 Years in the Indian film industry and still going strong........

The legendary Kamal Haasan, who began his tryst with films when he was just six, with Kalathur Kanamma for which he won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist and went on to bag three national awards for Moondram Pirai (1982), Nayagan (1987) and Indian (1996).He has stretched himself beyond the points of sheer vesatility. Experimenting is his passion, Mediocrity has never been his standard. There are two great things about him:

  •  A non-compromising attitude that pushes him to live life with passion
  • And honesty that's so brutal, that he does not spare even himself. He is one of the best method actor, India has ever produced and there are many “firsts” to his credit.

  •   Raaj kamal Productions, his production house was one of the very few to first implement the scheduling of film both forward and backward scheduling.
  •   His production house is the first in Indian Cinema to digitize a script similar to hollywood.
  •   First actor to convert fan clubs into Welfare associations which inspired many actors follow the same and involved in social activities.

Characters he played …..
Ventriloquist,A Village bumpkin, Classical dancer, Dwarf,Woman, Amnesiac,Psychopathi killer,Mentally challenged,Underworld Don and what not!! He’s known for breaking the benchmarks he already set.

Not many know that, Kamal has attended workshops for make-up techniques in US for several years and once trained as a make-up man under Michael Westmore, who is an oscar winning make-up man. His love for makeup was very  evident in all his films and this one is the ultimate proof.  He has  chosen the happenings in the nook and corner of our country and transformed them on screen with such a brilliant scripting like Hey! Ram, Mahanadhi, DEVAR MAGAN, VIRUMANDI to name a few. These are timeless beauties of his works.Kamal Hassan has also showed that true dedication to a craft will bring it’s own rewards.

Apart from the awards he won for his films, there ‘re also many lesser known ones like CNN-IBN Indian of the year(2010),FICCI’s FICCI Living Legend,Special Achievement Award by UPA (2010). “In fact, he may be the most awarded person in the country”,told Ambika Soni during Kamal’s retrospective last year. Conducted a Screenwriting Workshop, first of its kind in South India in IIT Chennai 3 years back With just 3 films to his credit as a Director,A retrospective of his films under “Director in focus” category was featured in Rotterdam International Film Festival 8 years before.

Many of his films received lukewarm response initially and later accepted by everyone as masterpieces and also influenced future generations of film-makers.In a time, where the actors are shown as rivals and , movie fans  pulling cheap photo-shop works on social networking sites, Kamal hassan has always shown respect to his fellow artists. A ardent true cinema fan will feel that he has been a learning and an inspiration.

For me ,all his movies are thoughts and memories and he’s a  never ending phenomenon !

Kamal Haasan , is an Actor, Film-maker, Screenwriter, Dialogue writer, Choreographer, Make-up artist, Singer, Lyricist, Philanthropist, orator and last but not the least a good human being.

One of the best and Greatest Actor... I am really sad that I dont understand Tamil but what I have seen in Hindi I have realised that he is greatest actor...The only other hero I can think having similar acting skills was Late Sanjeev Kumar in Hindi movies and no other so called superstars..
